Christmas cake, and storing

Hello

I've made a chocolate christmas cake today - this is the recipe I've used:-

http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/889651/chocolate-fruitcake

Does anyone think that this will be ok if I keep it wrapped up and stored in an airtight container until Christmas, I know the recipe says it will last for 2 months, but Christmas is only 2 and a half months away!

Thanks :)

I don't see any reason why not. Its got fruit and alcohol in.

When I make mine I wrap first in grease proof, then in foil and mine keeps fine.

    Thank you!

Me and my husband were going to have a cake off, and have both made a christmas cake, but given the cost of the ingredients, I think we'll wait until Christmas to taste them!

I have cheated and bought a fruit cake from Aldi! along with marzipan and fondant icing. The fruit cake is still in its wrapper until funds allow me to buy some brandy. then the plan is to unwrap it, poke holes in it, feed it some brandy wrap it back up! and feed it brandy every few weeks or so!
then marzipan and ice it and pass it off as homemade!
has anyone ever used sherry instead of brandy to 'feed' the cake? back in the days of making my own - I always used brandy, but never have any in house now - but I do have both dry and sweet sherry (for cooking).

Apologies to the OP for de-railing her thread!
