P45 Wrong?

Im not sure but Im hoping someone here can help me.
I changed jobs two months ago and last month I got taxed a stupid amount of money, I spoke to payroll who advised me this was to do with 'tax catch up' and it was infact how much I owed.
I started my new job in September but was owed few days pay/holiday left over from my last job so in september I got two payslips, one for each job.
Up until this my payslips for the previous job said I had earned £4776.49 Gross pay, £4657.47 Taxable and Id paid £390.80 in tax. This I agree with.
Then for my final payslip it says my Gross pay was £4721.54, Taxable £4601.17 and Tax paid £244.40
The figure £244.40 is what is on my P45 but I paid a lot more than that in tax so I don't understand. There also seems to be a further £54 or so which seems to be unaccounted for from my final pay, and again I don't understand why.
Does anyone have any idea why it would say the amount of tax I paid for the year had gone down even though I never had a refund or anything like that?

It looks like you recieved a tax rebate in your last payslip from your old employer. Can you advise the full details from this payslip, that is taxable gross, tax figure, net pay and tax code?0
