Updated. No payments from me today, but I will pay some money tomorrow.
  • Hi, could I join (late) please? I have a Wonga loan which is currently at £300 ish (have asked for balance) so that will be my aim.

I will be putting the money into my savings account as I am on a DMP, then trying to make a full and final offer if they will let me.

If not, it's £300 for a "rainy day".

    Hi everyone...

Well am off to a good start... but a tough choice. I'd inherited some money when my Nan died - a £1000 - some of which has already gone. I had the rest saved as a sort of security blanket and there seems to be two schools of thought on what to do.

One American financial guru says save a nest egg first for emotional security then clear debts... However - reading Martin's advice on here made a lot of sense. He advised clearing debts (that are charging interest) first...

So I have cleared my Barclaycard totally and paid some off my Capital One card. Still have a way to go and feeling a bit wobbly without my back up savings but will see how I go.

What do people advise... Keep the cleared card under lock and key just in case I ran into trouble... or secure an overdraught that is there in case I need it... or just cross that bridge if and when... I do budget in advance (put £100 per month away which covers, car insurance/tax, work membership fees and birthdays) so all big stuff is saved for... so maybe I just need to trust I will be ok.

Anyhow!!! Now paid £479.20/£850! (56% cleared).

    Yay! :T
