Son in fulltime education

Can my ex stop paying for our 18yr old even though he is still in full time education?
Thanks

Depends if it is advanced or non~advanced education, non advanced is A'level or equivelant.

Do you get your maintenance through the CSA? If you don't and he doesn't pay and he should be ~ your only option to get the money would be to apply.

Under Child Support Agency rules you are still eligible for child maintenance for your son if studying A'levels, however if you only have an informal arrangement with your ex you cannot force him to pay, if you are on speaking terms then advise him that you are still eligible and see if you can come to an arrangement, other than that it is the CSA I'm afraid ~ I'd apply asap ( only because they can only go from when the forms are sent to nrp, sooner you apply , sooner they will send the forms ~ in theory anyway!!) if you cannot agree anything as you are still entitled to support.

Amelia's Mummy is quite correct. However the CSA payment, once calculated, will only be payable by your ex until your son's 19th birthday.

He was only 18 in February, so does this mean he has to pay until he goes to uni. After that I'm not so worried, he will be moving and I won't be feeding him.

As your son was 18 in Feb then assuming that he continues to study for his A'levels and is going to University in September of this year then maintenance via the CSA will be payable until the start of September ( I think around the first Monday in September ~ something like that anyway) as when he goes to University he is classed as higher education and therefore does not fulfill the criteria to obtain maintenance via the Agency.
Have a look at this thread re: the university situation. ( the last posting by Mr Green Genes) there are other posts out there regarding this situation too.
    Hope this helps.

CSA is paid until you no longer get child benefit for him.
