I took out a car insurance policy for my 76 year old mum with goodgirl .co.uk insurance also know as insure2drive .co.uk but 7 days before it was due to start I sent them an email cancelling it as I did not like the look of the company I thought nothing more of it till my mum found that the company had taken the money from her bank account when we phoned goodgirl they said that they had not recived any cancelling email (a copy of which I have ) and they had sent out the policy, I informed them that no policy had been recived via email or post and that my mum had not had a phone call to check the policy details which they said they would do on their site and also she had not sent a copy of her licence which was also part of the policy terms .
After looking on the net about this company it seems their standard customer service to just ignore you .
I complained over a week ago and they have made no contact with me have sent no policy and are just holding on to the money whilst my mum has had to pay out for car insurance twice .

Write to them with the words FORMAL COMPLAINT.

Explain the issues and what you want at the end.

Send recorded delivery. Keep that receipt.

Some companies ask for the licence details.

Don't bother with recorded delivery. Proof of posting (free from the Post Office) will be adequate.

Also, if they debited the money after the cancellation, you can tell the bank it is an unauthorised debit and ask them to reverse it in accordance with FSA rule BCOBS 5.1.11R
  • Having some problems myself, communication is terrible and they never answer their phone or emails in my experience.
