1 kilo is 1000g so each kilo needs just over 70 minutes so i think it needs cooking for just under three hours to be right but im not hundred percent sure. I think i worked it out as 220 minutes

Help me out ladies, I can't get my head around this. A piece of pork weighs 2.45 kg and has to cook for 35 minutes for every 450g plus 30 minutes? How long does it need? Stupid instructions!

    About 3 hours 40mins Sue. (I think!)

220 mins is 3hrs 40 mins Becks so I agree with that.

For future reference Sue get a calculator or use the online one.
First convert your total weight of 2.45Kg to g. = 2450g
Divide that by grams to be cooked for 35minutes. (which is each 450g)
    so 2450g divided by 450g = 5.444444
now multiply this by the cooking time (35minutes)
    5.444444 x 35 minutes = 190.55 minutes
    Now add the extra 30 minutes 190.55 + 30 = 220.55 minutes
60 minutes in an hour, so 220.55 minutes divided by 60 = 3.67 hrs
so that is 3 hrs and (.67 of an hour)
To find .67 of an hour you multiply .67 by 60 (.67 x 60 = 40.2minutes) So you have a total time of time of 3 hrs 40 minutes.

Hope I have made it straightforward and it helps everyone work out their Christmas turkey cooking times, using the same principles.

That's really useful thank you. I was using a calculator but just couldn't figure out what to do :o. I've saved that ready for next time.

Glad you're feeling better Alfie ;) I also had nightmares last night!

Sue, I agree about the dogs not having a lie in. Jasper weed in sons bedroom trying to wake him up! I just heard son shouting at him and the dog running down stairs!

Eventually Wingo, we've decided to eat at tea time today, by the time the pork would have been cooked it would be 1:45, then it has to rest so we wouldn't be eating until 2:15 and our stomachs haven't gone back an hour, we were all starving at 1:00 so had a sandwich :)

Hope you enjoy your pork Sue!

Just saw the Times comp for this week - its OK its not an hourly!
It is a fancy dinner and overnight stay at Gleneagles - would love to win that.
Still pretty miserable here so will have to attack the ironing. DD is making fairy cakes and peppermint creams at the moment so if she hurries up we will have something for the 3 O Clock.
