Barclaycard with DMP - anyone else had problems?

Hello,

When my debt was at its highest and I was having problems I tried to make arrangements with the various creditors and they just didnt want to know. I discovered Payplan from a newspaper or magazine article and went with them.

However, I am someone who likes to deal with things myself and after 6 months with Payplan I decided to deal with the creditors myself and contacted them all. Everyone of them (9 in total) agreed to continue on the current repayment plan including some of the difficult ones like MBNA.

However, whilst everyone has continued to stop the interest and have been more than helpful Barclaycard sent a letter to me to say interest charges will recommence at the end of this month. I called them to ask/plead with them explaining that I also am in debt with Barclayloan and Barclay account and they actually told me to make one payment to the Barclays account for the next 3 months rather than to the loan as well and get the account completely clear so I have one less debt etc. Barclaycard said they dont care so I said in the end what if I go back to Payplan and they said if you do we will accept 1% of the total owed as a repayment and stop the interest.

Therefore I am currently paying £57 to them but they will accept £33 instead and stop interest if I deal with Payplan instead of paying myself.

I know I got in the debt and they can do what they want but why wont they accept a higher payment which will clear the debt quicker?

Sorry to have a long post but they have really annoyed me.

By the way Happy Easter to everyone. The sun is shining and no work today or tomorrow.

I've got a Barclaycard debt that is being managed through CCCS.

Barclays get £47.17per month from me via CCCS and have done since Nov 06. I've not had any problems at all. They've stopped the interest and don't get any letters regarding arrears.

Not sure why they won't accept the higher repayment - perhaps they think if you can afford to make larger repayments, you can afford to pay back interest too???

Hope you get it sorted out soon.
