Permitted Work?!

Hi all!
I have Crohns Disease and due to ill health have been out of work for almost a year. During this time I have been claimimg ESA.
My condition has improved recently after surgery and I am now looking to return to work part-time.
After looking on the direct.gov website it says that you can do 'permitted work' and still claim ESA.
I have recently been offered a part-time retail job at 12 hours per week but I am unsure if this is included in the 'permitted work' bracket?! And if it is how do I go about letting the benefits people know?
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated!

you can basically earn up to £80 per week. you don't need to let the dwp know but, do let the taxman know as you will then be earning over the tax threshhold. The dwp do automatically know as you will recieve a letter a 11 months to the day you started to ask if you are staying in the job and stopping your benefit.
You can also earn £20 per week permanently as a different option.0 -
Don't be surprised if undertaking permitted work triggers a review of your ESA entitlement.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

Really? I don't need to notify them if I start part-time work?
I'd read somewhere about a form for permitted work (a pw1 form I think?)0 -
Hi, A question about Permitted Work.
Is the amount you earn based on contributions? Say for example you are on ESA (Income based) or SDA (I understand now obsolete) - Can you still earn the £97.50 pw permitted work - please show me some legislation if you can! Thanks :-)Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
