Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: For legal reasons I have to discourage swapping, buying and selling on the forum (please see this rule). While it can be a very useful way of saving money it relies on a certain amount of trust between members and as such can cause problems (and has in the past). If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.

some posts requesting swaps have been removed.

sorry, i didnt even think.

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it.

We had free tickets a couple of years back, and it was one of the biggest wastes of time ever. Most of it was taken up with tacky trade stands selling the sort of thing you'd find in a second-rate street market, and beyond that there was very little of interest.

Basically it's a large market for sellers of tat, and somehow they manage to persuade a certain number of gullible members of the public (different ones each year) to actually hand over money to get in!

At least if it's free, you're only wasting your time, but for goodness sake don't waste any money travelling to get there. ;)

I disagree. I ordered a monitored house alarm that proved good value compared to anything I had seen elsewhere. Had some interesting cooking utensils and some very nice wine samples.

• Now says tickets not available for wednesday but sold out for other days????
• My Mum & I used to go to the standard Ideal Home Show each year & got really bored with the usual stalls selling Tupperware & Steam Cleaners. Last year was the first year of the Christmas show (as far as I know) and we decided to give it a go before giving up completely & we thought it was great. Yeah you get some of the same tupperware etc and certainly overpriced hot-tubs and stuff, but the show having more of a focus certainly helped and we were very keen to go back this year, I was lucky to get tickets for the Thursday in yesterday's give away, but we might have gone anyway if we'd have had to pay for the tickets.
