Morning all

On Tuesday I received a wem from cash genie letting me know I had won £100 on the sweepstakes they are currently running (sorry having done a search I can't find the poster)

Anyway, I felt the email was a bit 'dodgy' so replied to the email address provided (d.weaver@cashgenie.co.uk ) thanking them for my win.

Later on that day I received a further email (as shown below) from someone else in the Company but this time the email appeared far more legitimate.

Hi Trish

Congratulations on being our Winner. Please email d.weaver@hotmail.co.uk and tell us how you would like to receive your winningsJ either via bank transfer or via cheque.

Please can you also post a Thank you onto our Cash Genie wall or give us consent to announce you as our winner as this helps with our Facebook credibility.

Many Thanks

Kindest Regards
HannahMorton-Fishwick

Whilst I thought it 'appeared' more legitimate I was surprised that I should be asked to email this D Weaver at a hotmail address. I did email him but basically stated that I'd prefer to receive a cheque (there was no way I was going to pass on my bank details.)

Yesterday morning I received a reply from the hotmail address saying 'sorry, I don't think this was meant for me'

I then emailed h.morton-fishwick@cashgenie.co.uk for further clarification regarding my 'win' but have still not received a reply.

In the meantime cash genie have announced a completely different winner on their facebook page and have started a new competition.

So sorry for the long post but I'm really fed up about this! What, if anything, would you do? I suspect I'm just going to have to put it down to experience :(

  • if I were you I would write something on their wall. I find this usually does the trick if you want something sorted quickly! Don't go into details, but grab their attention.

    Good luck
  • Thanks Ladychelington I'm thinking about doing that very thing.

Mind you I hate making a fuss but nonetheless feel cheated..

Agreed. If they're looking to improve their Facebook 'credibility', they're not going to want a negative post there for long.

I agree with all of the above. If it is on their wall and there for all to see, I'm sure you will get a response!

    xx
  • Thanks for the advice everyone - I'll give them to the close of business today to reply to my emails and if not I'll post on their page.

    Thanks again
