Colleague that I am concerned about...

I work for the council along with my friend and have observed over the last few months that she is literally at breaking point with stress. It's evident from just looking at her tbh.

She has a new manager who probably shouldn't have gotten the job due to her non existent experience and a poisonous witch of a senior manager who are dumping most of the work on her, mainly because my friend is reliable and works incredibly hard. She spends all her time thinking about work and basically I'm just more than a little concerned that she is pushing herself a bit too hard.

To give some examples here, she was recently knocked over by a car one Sunday and still came in on the Monday and has zoned out and gone into a trance like state on more than one occassion when I've been out with her, which was quite scary to witness tbh.

I'm wondering whether I should have a word with another manager who knows her, or the head of service, who I know to be an understanding person. I've tried to get her to see the light, but shes quite a stubborn person tbh and maybe she'd listen if it came from her employer.

I don't want to affect her job prospects and am aware that you can't really force anyone to change or see the light. Is it worth having a word with someone?

  • Definitely have a word with one or other of the people that you think you can trust to help her.

Have you spoken to your friend about this at all first?
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
