save your woolens

Hi
I've been meaning to put this on the forum for some time now but was worried just in case you thought I was a real scrooge lol.
I've found a marvellous way to make my jumpers cardigans etc look like new again. Go on I bet you all already do this and it is nothing new lol
I got sick and tired of throwing away old woollens because they go all bobbly and look awful in a short space of time.
So I began cutting the bobbles off!! It takes a bit of time to get it right but it is very easy to just snip them off with a good pair of scissors. Keep the scissors level with the "wool" and there you have a jumper cardigan etc which looks new again.
Its extremely therapeutic too, listen to the radio, sort your problems out while you do it, listen to the tv or have some much needed rest. Moneysaving is hard work, have a rest, great excuse.;)
Only problem is it can become an obsession. Was behind a man in a queue in my local shop the other day, his jumper was full of great big bobbles, I had an almost overwhelming urge to rip his jumper off him and start cutting:A So men out there - be careful I might just be behind you

Thanks for the tip. I also use a disposable razor. I also use it on my work trousers that go bobbly after they have been washed. Yes, it is therapeutic, lol.

good tip and OP it certainly doesn't make you a scrooge! the more tips the merrier and please feel free to join our happy, thrifty band!

I have a jumper defuzzer though in hindsight probably cheaper to use a razor/scissors. Got it out to defuzz a favourite cardi whilst watching TV bt had to put away as DH moaned at the noise (was only a teensy noise!). Reminded me to have another go later on.

I have a defuzzer it was only £2 from a market and it's lasted years. My DD has a comfort blankie that gets rubbed sucked and chewed and is often debobbled. Works a treat.

I did get a defuzzer from somewhere, but DS1 has lost it (grrr!) so this is very good - I'd never thought of trying scissors!
