You could also try using a sewing needle to loosen the knots - thats how I normally do it, you need to be gentle and tease it by inserting the needle and wiggling!

This is exactly how I do it - it always works but may take 10 minutes or so.

Pin it to a cork placemat and use a needle/pin, (also pinning bits that are untangled out of the way)
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow
  • Was told for untangling guide lines that you hand it from the roof and leave, letting gravity do the rest. Most of the time it would work in a time!

So why hat grab one end, and pin it up hig, let the thing dangle down for a while.

I'm sure I remember something along the lines of bashing it with a wooden spoon so that it loosens, maybe not tho, think that maybe just me if in doubt bash it :o

Thanks everyone. I went with the cooking oil and two needles/pins approach and did it in about 30 minutes.

So now make sure you close it when you store it...and probably keep it in a box by itself ;)

I keep all my chains on a safety pin and lay them in a drawer in my jewellery box, no tangles. You could use 2 pins on a piece of cloth [velvet is good] and roll it up.
