The knowledge of London

hi
I wonder if anyone can answer my question....
My son has been claiming JSA for a few months. He has now been accepted to do the knowledge of London, to eventually become a London Taxi Driver.
I would like to know if there are any benefits/funding he can get whilst doing the knowledge? I presume he won't be able to claim JSA any more as he won't be "actively looking for work". If this is the case, how is he meant to pay for things such as knowledge school, runs, maps, petrol etc
thanks

Simple answer, there are none. However, he may be able to register as self employed and make a claim for working tax credits. He will need to book to see an adviser through his job centre, using someone like A4E, as an example. As long as he can find something to earn him something, the working tax credit, makes up the difference, the same as JSA

It could be worth his while investigating the Professional and Career Development Loan.
