Chasing up a prize with Edwin...

Will keep it brief.

Back in early Aug, won a DVD on CultHub. The WEM asked for my address in 24 hours or will be redrawn. I replied within the time. WEM also included:
We’ve been experimenting with different entry forms to see which is best for us, this competition didn’t request your address, so if you still want the prize then please let us know where to send it to. Unfortunately the PR company won’t post this overseas though so UK addresses only.

Please bear in mind that this will be dispatched direct from the PR company and we don’t hold any responsibility for lost or damaged prizes…very unlikely, but you never know.
Funnily enough, after 4 weeks, nothing. Emailed CH to enquire and was told:
The PR company are sending them out so I’ve no control over it to be honest. When I checked on their system this morning it said “awaiting more stock” so I assume it’s not lost or anything.
Hope you get it soon,
3 weeks passed, still nothing. Sent another email off but blanked. A week later, sent another, at the moment it's being blanked.

Sent an email off to Edwin, will keep you informed. As an aside, anyone ever had issues with CultHub?
Golly, I've got the newt pregnant...

Edwin has already replied and is on the case. One thing he has mentioned, which might be worth everyone knowing, is:
it is a clear principle in the CAP Code, that the promoter is responsible for every aspect of the promotion, including prize distribution.

Edwin (who is the complaints guy for IPC) whooshes like a rocket. He now has the Advertising Standards Authority involved, they've now taken the baton on, all should soon be well.

As for BTW, no PR details at all.

    Update

Hours after the ASA got involved, comp blogger got in touch, apologised for the delay/loss and said they'd chase it up with the PR company. Did say that with running multiple jobs and other thing and doing the blog in the spare time meant it was easy to miss emails (in answer to my suggesting I was being ignored)

Package turns up this morning, with DVD prize, compliment slip with apology from PR company and another DVD as compensation for the lateness.

I know some people might not have bothered due to the small value but to me it isn't the value, it was the sheer principle of winning something and then not receiving it.

As a thought, I now wonder if I've got blacklisted from entering any of the providers comps for 'rocking the boat'...

Hopefully Recoil Shunt will get a similar result for their much bigger prize.

Well done on getting a result.

I agree with you, it doesn't matter about the value. You've put in effort to enter the comp and been lucky enough to win. You did the right thing
You'll have to speak up; I'm wearing a towel
  • Hiya, well done on the result. I've got the IPM and Advertising Standards dealing with my case now, as well as the original promoter. I've been promised it by next week, will update on my thread then :)
MSE wins: 2009 Altec Lansing iPhone speaker dock, 2012 Ribena 'Hunter' wellies , Local (non MSE) Tesco comp, Kindle Touch!
