I agree..
Information packaged up as an ebook shouldnt be sold for monetary gain. The people that put them together just get the info from the internet anyway.0 -

A word of caution to anyone reading this; like printed books, ebooks are subject to copyright protection and distributing them without first obtaining the right to do so (via payment or explicit permission) is most likely illegal.
Many ebooks are shoddilly put together and the value of them questionable. However, there are a growing group of people who specialise in creating quality ebooks on subjects they are passionate and knowledgable about, and depriving them of royalties through distributing without the right to do so is both legally and morally questionable.
Many authors will gather information from the internet, but many do not. They are experts in the field they are writing their book about and sharing a great deal of expertise.
Even if they are not experts and are mearly re-writing and re-packaging information freely available on the internet, a level of skill and work is required to do this well.
If you feel an ebook is likely to be valuable - either because it gives you information not available elsewhere, or because it saves you a great deal of time by presenting the information in a self-contained package - then buy the book and recompense the author for his or her work.
What I'm trying to say is that like 'real' books, you can get some trash and you can get some gems. Don't assume that all ebook authors cobble together Wikipedia articles and Google searches, but exercise your judgement as you would with any other purchase.0 -
i think this site buys up ebooks which come with re-sale rights probably because the authors earn revenues from affiliate links contained within the books but I agree that there is a danger that some ebooks could be reproduced and given away without the author's consent0
