Redundancy money

I am due to be made redundant in a couple of weeks. I will be owed several years redundancy and a couple of weeks notice pay.
When i go to claim JSA, housing benefit, council tax benefit, will i have this cash taken into consideration? Do i have to declare it and in so doing lose it or is this money i can actually keep in my pocket?

Thanks for any info given!

You have to declare the money i'm afraid, I'm sure JSA get to know about the money through the Inland Rev or they'll ask for your last wage packet.
As a result you won't be able to claim benefits until your money has ran out - say a months worth of pay or something like that.

Unless you applied for a voluntary redundancy, you should get contribution-based JSA as of right, having paid your NI, for a maximum of 6 months. This is not a means tested benefit.

Redundancy money is NOT taken into concideration for claims to JSA, only your PILON (Pay In Lieu Of Notice) will affect the amount you may be entitled to.
