Hi all.
My neighbour who recently moved house 'dumped' a lot of her more bulky storecupboard items on me rather than take them
. Thanks to all posters who replied to my query about how to make use of a sack of potatoes.:T
Another of her gifts was a box of 8 large glass jars of Libby's Tomato Juice. This stuff is seriously yummy but I've now seen the Best Before date is end of February 2007. I often use out-of-date foodstuffs if they smell and look OK and have never had any problems yet.
Problem here is what to do with this lot. I thought of freezing it in small amounts to add to soup/sauces etc in the future but as its already past-it how long could I safely freeze it for?? Don't want to use up valuable freezer-space if it's going to be dodgy when I come to use it.
Any help gratefully received.

As you said its past it "BEST BEFORE" not its use by date. Bottled or canned stuff will effectively last forever so I would stash it away, perhaps in a dark cupboard and just use it as normal. Remember that when they found Scott's base in the Antarctic it still had cans with edible contents in it after 90 years!
Stop worrying and use you nose and eyes, they will tell you whether it is off or not.
