Speaking as an ex-professional wedding photographer ...

400+ wedding receptions have left me convinced that usually the only people apart from the bride who have any interest whatsoever in favours are brides on web forums and any female guests at the reception who are planning their own weddings.

I reckon more than a dozen brides of our brides did away with the wedding cake, and it made no difference at all to their receptions. As far as I could tell, the only people who noticed were the grannies.

All things being equal, a DJ is way cheaper than a band, and a band tends to play what it can as opposed to what you want to hear. Also, a band is LOUD and you can't turn it down ...

My tip is not to worry about the little things, not many people remember them. It's likely only you will care about everything matching your colour scheme, or things like favours etc. These things can take a lot of time and money and just aren't worth stressing about.

For me it was important to focus on having as many of my friends and family as we could to celebrate our day. Oh and to have decent food as people always remember rubbish food!

Definitely agree on having a DJ rather than a band, you always get more people dancing to cheesy tunes!

Hi, 2 questions. I've read on a few websites that lightinthebox.com is a scam, does anyone know anything about this? Also does anyone know where abouts the rag trade shops are in Oxford St, London? I'm hoping to pop there next week to see if I can find a dress!
