My dog is healthy now, but was prone to this for over 6 months when I first got her.

    Above all, DON'T RUB!

Gently take off the excess with newspaper, then use lots of water preferably in a spray bottle and old rags (white if it's a light coloured carpet) Spray water and then press down with cloth to lift out the water and stain.

You will have to repeat this step A LOT!

Always worked for me, but obviously we could have very different types of carpets.

    Good luck!

Glad it worked. I've also used this method for removing red wine stains etc. The key is not to rub - this presses the stain down further into the carpet fibres, whereas the 'spray and press' method lifts it out.

Nice and cheap, and chemical free too!

When my dog was ill, I sometimes thought I could detect an odour even after the stain was gone - I think I may have imagined it, but if you want to be sure it's gone, then wait for the carpet to dry, and sprinkle some bicarb. on it. Leave half an hour or so, and vacuum up. Should be fresh as a daisy then!
