Think the number 10 beside the Antrim store refers to number of staff. News stated that only 3 stores left in NI - Antrim, Lisburn, L'Derry. Stock from other stores has gone to these stores for clearance.:j

dont let the number of staff put you off shopping at the store.
many staff are being sent in to help from sportsdirect stores to help

Just been to my local JJB in Aintree Liverpool, everything was half price, including already reduced items.:)

I went there on Thursday morning and the que was out the door! People actually arguing over bikes!

I got a nice golf cart bag, £30 half price and a couple of drivers. Great bargains, just unfortunate for the employees.
  • Cumbernauld opens at 8 tomorrow, just watched 2 truck loads of stock arrive. It's all out the back, don't think they can physically fit it in the store! Place was a mess tonight, only qued about 20 mins though. They had loads of pertemps staff in :)
Whats meant to be will always find its way...;)
  • Leeds (Kirkstall) are getting stock in daily from other West Yorkshire Stores, closing down on a daily basis! FYI !

I've been in the Llandudno store this morning and they had a huge amount of stock out on display and staff were constantly bringing more out. It seems they've taken on a load of temporary staff to help carry stuff out onto the shop floor. The problem is that whilst there's loads of stock out there's no longer any semblence of order so there's stuff randomly mixed in throughout the shop. You basically need to spend an hour searching to see what turns up.

There were loads of football shirts including the current Liverpool, Man City, Man Ure, Chelsea and Spurs shirts along with some Barcelona, Real Madrid, England, Spain, Italy, Holland and Scotland ones. There were also loads of Cardiff Blues rugby shirts and some England cricket shirts upstairs. I'm sure there'll be a lot of Christmas shopping doing on in there this week.

Elsewhere there were loads of trainers along one wall, although the boxes were piled up about 8ft high so if you wanted a pair from the bottom unless you're a world class jenga player forget it! There was also gym equipment, golf clubs, bikes, tennis rackets, a pile of cricket bats and all sorts of other assorted stuff.

The thing that did occur to me was that there was so much stock that they're almost certain to start reducing further so it might be worth waiting to see if prices drop further than 50% off.

The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water

  • Can confirm that Kirkstall is still getting stock. Queues big if you go at peak times, I queued for over an hour (also at the time of Lloyds Halifax fiasco). One thing to beware of, the bigger brands seem to have a high price i.e. tracksuit bottoms at £40 so you pay £20. My bet is you can get the same brand at other discount stores cheaper without the hassle..........

I thought the same thing to be honest. Some things are worth queuing for (assuming you actually need them) but it was a bit odd that JJB regularly had 50% off sales when the shop was almost empty but today they had a 50% off sale and it was packed out. I think it might be worth taking the gamble and holding off buying anything for a week or two.

Re the branded items it's worth checking the price at the tills if no price on ticket. The staff said some stuff being shipped in to the clearance stores was from storage so not priced up. They have been told its all got to go and make up a price at the till. I bought some children's Nike and Sketchers trainers for £7.50 and an Adidas hoody for £6.
  • Still loads left in Kirkstall Leeds! SA reckons there will be another 2 massive deliveries to store, and thinks this 'sale' will be going on for another couple of weeks ?! Was packed out this morning with queues to till approx 30 mins !

Hi all not sure if this has been posted before but some of you may know that JJB are closing down (having been bought by sports direct). I'm not sure about other towns but in Leeds near kirkstall road, the big JJB has a 50% off everything sale. We bought some trainers for ourselves including the kiddies and some clothes. Will prob reduce further once stock reduces. HTH
