Bargain Eco-Friendly Cleaning - soda crystals and white vinegar

Wilkinsons is doing a promotion on white vinegar (750ml for £1!) and a 1kg bag of soda crystals is 70p - dirt cheap (no pun intended!), the MSE forums are full of cleaning and laundry tips using them both.

I know a lot of people would like to try using eco-friendly cleaning products - well now there's no excuse!

Brilliant, thanks! I make my own laundry gloop using soda crystals and then add white vinegar instead of fabric softener so this will come in very handy!
  • No problem Squeezie, I've yet to make laundry gloop but I've always wanted to! What's your recipe?

White vinegar is under £2 for 5 litres in Chinese and some Asian stores .

If you know someone who goes to Bookers their Chef's Larder range distilled malt vinegar in 5L containers works out cheaper than the Wilkinson offer but I agree if you can't get someone to buy for you then it's a good deal.

I ordered some Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda 55oz box 6.99 from American Sweets to try, maybe that's soda crystals ??

    ??? <confused look>

Husband tried the Arm and Hammer Super Washing Soda. Not sure what the heck it is apart from all natural (am presuming soda crystal powder) but the Ecover got frothier. I cut my knee in the garden while wearing denim blue linen trousers and as I'm on Aspirin bled like the proverbial stuck pig. The Arm & Hammer- Ecover combo got it out first time :T
