Have we got snooker legend Willie Thorne on the list yet?Former snooker player Willie Thorne has revealed how his wife stopped him from killing himself over £1million gambling debts.
Thorne had taken a knife to a hotel and written letters to family members, only to be saved by wife Jill Saxby who burst into the room after finding him just in time.
The 61-year-old, who is declaring himself bankrupt, says his gambling addiction, and resulting debts, had spun out of control with money lenders even threatening to chop off his wife's fingers and take her jewellery to pay off loans.0 -

Missed that one earlier this year. Poor Willie, now on the insolvency register not as "snooker legend" but "A self employed after dinner speaker"
P.S. Still no sign of Freddie Starr0 -
Not sure how famous he is as a footballer but obviously made his mark with the Insolvency Service

Interesting case. To summarise, a chap creates a Ponzi scheme and swindles people out of £3.5 million. He's then given a 15 year BRO.
Does anyone with more than one brain cell think this swindler gives a flying fe.ck about being given a 15 year BRO?0 -

If I read this correctly his 'investors' lost more than that - about £9 million in all. Some of this was lost through trading.
But £3.5 million has gone 'missing'. I don't understand why there is no investigation, apparently, by the police into where this is.
I was thinking about this when hearing about the Shelterbox founder who has spent all week at a hugely expensive Old Bailey trial (costing £500,000) and the jury have been unable to reach a verdict on whether he committed fraud by buying some of his tents from his son's company. One of the accusations is that the son spent advances from the charity on a motorbike costing £5,600.0 -
