I've got a lodger!!!

temba
Hello, I know I've not been around much, I've been really busy..... and to be honest, my £40 a week budget has really gone to pot since I stopped writing on Moozie's posts every day (I'll be back now Moozie I promise!).
However, after a naughty few weeks I'm now back on track with my money saving because today I got a lodger for MY BEDROOM!!! I'm moving into the box room from May. I'm not really looking forward to living in such a tiny space, but I worked out it would gain me £4k a year, so I'm going to bite the bullet and do it. Only thing is I need to get the loft done to put all my stuff in it!!!
Feel like celebrating. I might crack open a tin of beer. Cor I know how to live   dance:

Thanks Beanielou!
I forgot to say.... thanks to everyone who encouraged me when I first thought about doing it a few months ago. It has taken me a few months to actually get round to it, but I really think it will be worth it, and I might even make some new friends too, which is never a bad thing![SIZE=-4]MF date: Dec [STRIKE]2028[/STRIKE] 2019. We too have a lodger, and have had for the last 2 and a half years.
Sometimes we crave our "space" back but then we remember just how much we are being paid and, boy does that extra cash make a difference!
You will soon get used to the new arrangements, and of course it is tax free so the equivalent of a £5000 pay rise!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

DAMN Lodger........ has just phoned to say she's not moving in afterall even though she said she definitely was. We even had a moving date. She seemed so nice and so reliable, and I suppose I should have taken a deposit immediately, but I trusted her as she seemed so reliable...... In the meantime I've wasted two weeks when I could have been looking for another lodger.
So now I'm back to square 1, except that I've got about £100 on my credit card of things I bought because the lodger was coming (eg extra chest of drawers and stuff like that)
I feel really fed up.

Bright side is that you found out how unreliable she is BEFORE she moved in! Imagine the nightmare of having late rent, etc every month!0

Ooh, what rotten luck. I am sure you will find someone else soon and as fablad said, better to find out now that she is unreliable rather than have to chase rent every month.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Maybe you should watch this movie before you get a lodger...

Good luck with finding your lodger, but remember... if people start dissappearing in your neighbourhood and she/he starts pacing up and down the bedroom at all hours of the night, call the cops!

have you tried advertising in the local University? There housing people may be able to help.
