  • Enlighten us? some institutions may ask the question, but whether you are "legally oblidge" to answer and if it affects anything is another matter.

My sister believes having answered yes to being bankrupt on a job application scuppered her chances.

The job was offered by word of mouth and sounded like it was a turn up and its yours. After reading the application though they had whispers and said we will let you know in writing.
Letter arrived the next day saying she was not what they were looking for.

She thinks its because of that, The person that eventually got the job was not very good and left within 6 months.

Unfortunately if asked the question you have to answer honestly. The evidence is there for prosterity and anyone can do an online search and your name could pop up on the London Gazette. Type your name in here and see what pops up if you are BR who thinks you can hide now that your name is no longer on the IS web page http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/ . Saying no for example on insurance questionnaires could mean you are paying a lesser premium but should you need to make a claim it is invalidated due to the 'white lie'. For banking purposes I guess it would be seen as fraudulent if you do not declare when asked. That's just my 2p worth, feel free to do whatever you think is right for you.
