So it's not very high protein, sounds like a low fat diet to me?

Your wording in the OP suggested it is always or usually the case, if you only meant in your daughter's case that was not at all clear.

I am afraid I cant speak for all cases, it was implied to me by PALS, so the implication was generally

not deliberately low fat, but low in fat, as she cant stomach fat, so lean protein such as chicken and turkey and fish (white). She wants to eat but cant tolerate the discomfort/pain afterwards

In that case I suggest you ignore them because they really don't know what they're talking about.
Vast numbers of people who are urgently referred to a hospital specialty are seen the next day, sometimes some are seen on the same day.

My partner recently had the same thing, wasn't eating and when he did eat he ended up vomiting all night. GP kept telling him it wasn't gastro just heartburn/acid reflux. GP eventually booked him in for the ultrasound at the end of this month (despite him saying it was in no way gallstones). However my partner ended up at A+E 2 weeks ago in excruciating pain. Diagnosed with gallstones and jaundice and got the ultrasound/gastroscopy the next day. Also ended up having his gallbladder taken out. Im not sure why GP's are dragging their heels with referring to the hospital. Could have been a lot worse for my partner if it had burst.
