Family Christmas in a cottage ideas

Hi all,
This year no one was very keen to host Christmas so we have booked a cottage in a nice village for my partner, his parents and I to spend the holidays. (we're in our 30s and they are in their 60s but have a very young outlook and are quite active)
We all like to get out and about so as long as the weather is decent I'm sure we'll keep occupied but I'd love some ideas for things to do on days when the weather isn't so good and we're stuck indoors.
I was thinking about buying a board game or two and taking some playing cars along but haven't got any further on the list!
Any recommendations for games or other indoor activities would be welcome. The more MSE the better!

Hi there...
A couple of ideas for you...
What about a scavanger hunt? We go away every summer to stay on an Island in Scotland and this year I made up a scavanger hunt for the beach, But I am sure that you could make one up for countryside.
What about looking in charity bookshops for quiz books to cover a rainy night, also see what is happening in local pubs, you may find a quiz night happening.
Another one is have a movie night, ask everyone to bring 2 fave dvd's and get some microwave pop corn etc... put all the dvd's in a bag and pull one out to watch...
Another one is a fancy dress night with only what you can find to hand to wear... Can be very very funny...
