Mercers!! Horrible people - can I complain

Hi
Just had a call from my dad saying someone called me and said its very urgent I call them straight back, its a very serious matter and if not it will have horrible consequences.
He gave me the number and it was Mercers - got through, gave my details and they said 'nobody has called you, your payments are up to date'. I said I know they are up to date but someone has called and my dad being elderly is quite upset - what are these consequences and this serious matter. I asked for a supervisor and was cut off.
I am thinking about calling back but am or was enjoying my day off. Can I complain or is it not worth it?

MERCERS - short for Mercenary Bar Stewards
I would complain - I hope you've got the name of the person who called.
They're not very good at apologies though.:rolleyes:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.

I have not got the name of the original caller cos my dad took the call, and hes a bit deaf and apparantly they didnt give a name/or he didnt ask.
I will send a letter of complaint not that I expect any response.
I always remember when I had dealings with GE Money about a year ago and had a call before I left for work and there was a guy on the end talking to another guy bragging about how much he had got out of people that week and the various ways he threatens the people depending on their age/sex etc and I kept saying Hello, I am here etc. Complained to them and nothing happened of course.Total Debt now £22,525.07 Start Debt £32,732.36

MERCERS gave me HELL over my Barclaycard account, even when I had agreed, with Barclaycard, late payments.
When I was declared bankrupt, they kept telephoning, and even asked for the direct telephone number of my OR - they obviously didn't beleive me.
Imagine how I felt when, on December the 23rd, the phone rang and a voice asked for my youngest daughter by name. I told them, truthfully, that she wasn't here and they asked for her mobile number. I asked who was calling, and they told me it was a 'personal business matter' and they couldn't give me their name. I replied that I, therefore, was unwilling to divulge my daughter's phone number unless they told me who they were, to which they replied 'We are phoning from a Company called MERCERS - your daughter will know what it's about.'
I said 'Is that MERCERS the Debt Collection Agency?' and the reply was 'Why do you ask if we are a DCA? We don't need to give you any more information, please tell your daughter to phone us immediately, quoting ref. no xxxx.'
I put the phone down.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
