Can I make pastry with just flour and marg?

I really fancy a cheese & onion quiche over the weekend, to go with salad and new potatoes. I'm not planning to go near a supermarket until next week. I have a glut of short-dated milk and eggs, so need to use these up too, hence the quiche idea.
I have plain flour and some Olive spread, but that's all. Is it possible to make a very basic shortcrust pasty with just these? If so, would someone be kind enough to suggest how?
(And how did I get to this age without knowing how to make pastry?

Yup you can - I'd use 6oz plain flour, 3 oz marg - that will give you plenty for a quiche. Rub the marg into the flour, then add a small amount of cold water to bind it together - not sure how much exactly, just add a dash at a time until it sticks together properly, if you do go too wet, just chuck plenty of flour down when you roll it out.0

And if you ever get really desperate you can make a 'quiche' without the pastry base. Just grease the tin really well and it will turn out like a thick savoury omlette or tortilla, cut into wedges and very nice with salad and new potatoes, as you suggest.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

Hi Bogof_Babe,
What you have sounds fine to make pastry. I won't give any advice because I'm not good at it and sharra obviously knows what she's talking about but this older thread may help: Making pastry
