You need to sort your bills into priority and cut off the ones you can't afford:- Rent (including arrears)
- Council Tax
- Utilities
- Food + essentials
- Debts
- Luxuries

Claire, even parents on benefits should be paying child maintenance. It is currently £5 a week and is due to double to £10 per week but I am not sure of the date. The CSA may possibly be able to sort you out this as backdated maintenance pay so don't give up it. Even £5 a week is worth having so there is a point in pursuing itLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Hi Clairelg88,
I was looking for advice after my mum's housing benefit was axed after someone at the office wrongly put in that she earned over a thousand pounds a week in a week when all she and my dad who are 64 have is a pension.
I hope thing get sorted out for you Claire. It's so stressful dealing with benefits people. The attitude I've gotten is 'we don't make mistakes' even when they have and I've been able to prove it.
I can't believe that people actually suggested getting rid of one of your dogs as though a dog is a piece of expensive furniture you can just take back. I work as a volunteer in one of the Dogs Trust centres and there are thousands of dogs needing homes. The last thing anybody should be doing is giving one away, so I'm glad you didn't take people's advice:)
Good luck. I'm sure it will turn out okay as these people do make mistakes.0
