Now the Unions are complaining about Labour as well as the coalition, I have just been watching Ed Balls getting it in the neck as well(at last).
There are endless families paraded before the camera or being dragged onto the Victoria Derbyshire Five Live badger baiting show, and endless bloggs stating that many just cannot take anymore rises in food or fuel and have not had pay rises for years, they cannot take it anymore.

Well sadly but more importantly some do have an option, SELL THEIR HOMES.
Many have built up plenty of equity in the last decade, some will just have to bite the bullet and wait for better times to own, NOBODY has a god given right to own, as many of the bears are constantly told on this board. Many have enough equity to see them through quite a few years until hopefully things pick up, many do have an option to feed and keep themselves warm, a good option as well.

And then what? Live in rented accomodation that could be anything upto 3 times more expensive per month than what they were paying on their mortgage? What happens when their rent has soaked up all of their equity? Get rent assistance from the state and become a burden on everyone else?

All you seem to want to do is return to the days when the workers lived in homes provided by the rich (i.e. mill owners). Are you a BTL landlord by any chance because they are the few who will benefit from your policy.

Assuming they could sell their homes in the current market...

Then what - pay through the nose for rent eating up the equity and being left with nothing.

Then what - when all the equity is gone - be reduced to throwing yourself on the mercy of the state - assuming of course that Housing Benefit will still be available. Newsflash - it probably won't be in years to come.

Great gaping flaws in that one HSW.

Isn't there a solution to this?

    I think it's called 'austerity'.

    Hi

Do not have much time, but what I will quickly say is the same as many of the MSE property bulls say to those more bearish, stop being so choosey.
Times are hard, and sometimes you have to make tough choices. What I say on here is not going to be heard except by a few MSE regulars.

Just one example, and there are 100,000's like them, and this is using my area as an example. I know many who have £50k plus in equity(some far more), I also know that you can get good decent rented for between £600 to £700 monthly with little travelling. It is not the best solution but many have the option of getting through the next few years and feeding the family as well as keeping warm.

Of course they can fight for their homes, but don't tell us you are going hungry and cold when you have this option.

Generally that isn't going to be a worthwhile option. Given the benefits available to help those with very low / no income the chances are that selling is only a beneficial option if you have built up considerable high-interest debt and you will use the proceeds to settle them. Having said that extending mortgages and/or a mortgage holiday may be a useful tactic to help resolve financial issues.

Ultimate there will always be some percentage of people who end up struggling financially regardless of how much money they get given. A complete sky subscription costs about half what I pay in mortgage interest; I don't have one. I know two couples on incomes less than half our household income who do and struggle to manage debt, afford to fix the car etc.
Having a signature removed for mentioning the removal of a previous signature. Blackwhite bellyfeel double plus good...

Try and remember this the next time you're crying about how difficult it is for you to get onto the housing ladder.

They could downsize or move to a cheaper area. Bradford and Liverpool are pretty cheap.

Personal, personal, personal, day after day after day, rant after rant, when are you going to tire of it. If being critical about a Shapps buy to let policy is abusive, then yes I along with thousands of others was abusive. Only mistake I made was being to honest on this board.
I have never been abusive to anyone on twitter or anywhere else, critical yes.
