Removing strong smells from plastic bottles

I have a small pump action plastic pump spray bottle (30ml)which used to contain an evil smelling calming mist spray by Temple Spa.
The bottle is an ideal size for travelling, so I threw away the contemts washed it out with soap and water, still smells, used an oxygenating cleaner - still smells, left it out in the fresh air and sunshine - but the dry bottle still smells.
Please can someone give me advice about a product to use, or a way to get rid of the original product smell...I thought that perhaps filling with bicarb might be an option........

Sandy

Try half a cup of white vinegar, a tablespoon of bicarb and two cups of hot water, mix well and leave for a couple of days.
