Updating the search facility

I've opened a thread on site feedback asking to add 'keywords to exclude' to the search facility. If you want to add to the debate, whether to agree or not, please go to:

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/56217561#Comment_56217561

It's probably better to post there than here, so that the MSE bods will hopefully read it. Or C&P to post in both threads if you like.

Thanks

Thanks Blulu. I think your suggestion is good and I have added my bit over there.

I think that we need to encourage as many compers as we can to have a look at your thread. Not everyone will read compers chat corner, but perhaps we could spread the word on facebook or twitter to let our own comping mates know.

If they are able to implement this idea, it might please a load of people, but I cannot see how it can possibly offend anyone.

If it's an available option people can choose to use it or not but there are competitions where you can enter "normally" and/or with FB or Twitter, also FB/Twitter are sometimes mentioned but are not the entry route, by excluding those terms you will miss some competitions.

Thanks for that. Don't know if you might want to copy your point to the other thread?

I think one could get around that problem by searching on titles, rather than the whole thread. Which we can do currently. So if posters could use (FB) for facebook only. Or (Kids), then we could exclude those bracketed phrases to exclude from a title search?

I have seen several recently with FB in the title when there were other entry routes as well (I enter by end date so they could have been posted a while ago).

Silly question but what words would you be searching for when you are adding excluded words?
[/STRIKE] Of course you could just search for "win" with the excluded terms, blame the golf.
