Hi all,
I'm seeking some advice about how to live in the Republic of Ireland but work in the UK, namely Belfast.
I'm curious about how I could manage my income to best effect.
Any suggestions

I know someone who does something similar. They tend to save up their income and convert it when the exchange rate is as high as possible, in order to minimise fees. As they are converting larger amounts, they tend to get better rates, which also helps. It might take a bit of fiddly setting up at the start, depending on your current financial situation, if you wanted to do something similar.
I know someone else who worked in the UK for a while, then managed to claim the NI back to transfer it over to the Republic to count towards her pension over there. I'm not sure how, though. Perhaps someone else will be able to help about that...Please call me 'Pickle'

Read the post, the OP wants to live in the Republic of Ireland while working in Belfast....
Not a bad suggestion about playing the currency markets however it is dependent on being able to perhaps survive for sustained periods of time between peaks & troughs in valuations. However I'd probably get some professional advice about it with regards to things like taxation & suchlike!Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -

You will need to speak to the UK tax people and then the Irish tax people. Your situation is not unique many thousands of people do this across Europe every day.0
