found a load of cheap camping gear at http://www.cybercheckout.com/ just wondering if it really is good value or just junk.
Anyone else got other offers or sites? I'm looking to get a 3-4 man tent, sleeping bag and rucksack - off to Download Festival \m/

I used to promote my band here...

I have used this company a few times for camping gear and rucksacks and they are really good.
My husband does a lot of hill walking and over night treks.
I bought him a huge rucksack from cybercheckout which is as good, if not better, than the slightly smaller one he bought years earlier from Millets.
Their tents are a bargain too! we do a few festivals each year and bought a 4 man tent with a huge front porch for next to nothing from cybercheckout (when compared to similar in camping shops)0 -
That stuff looks great for the price. If you're buying unbranded camping stuff then you're only compromising on weight and sturdyness. If you're using the gear occasionaly for festivals and will be going by car then it doesn't really matter about a few extra kilos and you don't need to worry about having to use your equipment in sub zero temperature or gale force winds.
We have two sets of camping stuff, one set of expensive lightweight stuff for running with and another set of good unbranded stuff from places like Argos, Index, Lidl and Netto. The cheaper stuff is usually more comfortable to sleep on/in and if it gets wrecked you don't mind so much.
Have a look at:
WildDay
Castle Mountain & Moor (I've had really good service from here)
Gear Zone (having problems with website at the mo)
Outdoor MegastoreJust run, run and keep on running!0 -
Check out http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/default.asp?sp=&v=1 and look down the left hand side of the page loads of links to online retailers......

I know this might sound like a stupid question but, how many people is your tent actually going to be sleeping?
I've always found that the guidelines for tents are for if you want to be lying on top of each other with no room to breathe, so remember and take that into account. You'll need to keep all your stuff in your tent for the little security that there is at festivals so think about that when thinking of the size you'll need too.
I'm not sure if you've been to any festivals before but at times the weather can be so extreme that tents can get ruined... add to that the fact that there are drunk people staggering all over the place (including your tent) and it's understandable why some people just decide to throw their tents away at the end of the weekend.
As long as the tent is suitable for sleeping under for a few nights and will do the job so you're relatively comfortable then I wouldn't worry too much about the quality of it... you'll probably be too busy enjoying yourself to spend much time in it anyway
