I had a look and as well has having tried Capital One it turned out we also tried VANQUIS already. So we gave AQUA a go - we called them first and was told we should be able to get a card but of course we got turned down. So it's ok if you owe £50,000 to get another card but not when you owe nothing, is willing to pay stupid APR and any other fee

I hate this - we can't get a Debit Card or a Credit Card and without one of those there is so much you can't buy online. It is so bloody disheartening that no one will give us a chance to build up our credit even when our internal credit rating is excellent :-(

Oh well I guess it's a small price to pay to be free of crippling debt.

Do you have a pre-paid Mastercard?

If so what does this mean:
    - PAYMENT PROCESSING FEE (NON-REFUNDABLE) £1.95

    Hi Ixy,

If it's a debit card that you need according to a basic bank account booklet i was given by the CAB prior to going BR states that the Co operative bank offer a basic bank account that will allow you to set up direct debits or standing orders and offer a debit card too. I hope that this helps.

We've already switched bank to yet another that promised us just that. We had with the old one and with the new one an impeccable internal record apparently but it doesn't matter.

I wonder if anyone here that is within the 6 years have succeeded in getting a debit card?

Yes. We went BR 3 weeks ago. Opened account (over the phone) with the co-op. Told them we were BR. Received our debit cards on sat. They don't do a plain cash card.
:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin

I think, but don't quote me on this, that it's a charge for when you withdraw cash at a cashpoint.

i.e. you put on £100, spend £89 so decided to withdraw the remaining square £10 from the hole in the wall and they'll charge you £1.95 for doing it.
BSC Member 44 - not bankrupt yet, but getting there...

That's what I thougth too but it says:
    Reload by cash - FREE
Reload by debit card (at Post Office® branches only) - FREE
Check your balance and recent transactions online - FREE
Payment Processing Fee (non refundable) - £1.95
Card issue or replacement - £9.95 Maximum
ATM withdrawal £2.00 (UK) - £3.00 (Non UK)
Cash withdrawal (at bank) - £3.00
Cancellation (for refund of cash value in the Account) - £10.00
    Foreign transaction - 2.75% of amount withdrawn/spent
So what on earth is "Payment Processing Fee" for?

I've had one for the past 5 years with the bank i'm with.

I was with them before i went bankrupt and i handed my Switch card back to them and they gave me a normal cash card. I then got my switch back through the post when the old one ran out.

    I've also had a Cap1 credit card with a £200 and a £200 security deposit for approx 2 years.

My bankruptcy was done in April 2001 and finsihed in 2004. My six years are now up this month.
