Buyer's 'terms'?!
clearingout
Just sold an item and have received this message:
Hello, we just won a bid for the item and we have a favor to ask you. Can you please make sure the shipping package has the eBay item numbers on it?
For those of you who are going to separate an item into more than one box, it would be much appreciated if you numbered the packages. (e.g 1/2 2/2) Also, if we need to specify the size, color or any information for the item to be shipped out, please remind us to inform you.
Last but not least, please include all correct items that are shown in the picture and/or your description.
Never seen anything like it! Is this common? I have just looked at the buyer - over 2k feedback, only ever bought never sold, claims to be a business, very, very mixed items bought. Odd?! Or I have I been 'lucky' never to have had something like this before?!

I've been asked to put the item number and my seller id on the outside of the package before. If it's a business buying a lot of parcels then I can see why they would want this information, doesn't take too long to do.0

It seems a bit extreme. I occasionally get instructions which I usually ignore and send how I usually do. Stuff is usually along the lines of "please mark "if out, leave in the dog"" or "please pack carefully and seal envelope", the instructions are either totally pointless or something any idiot would do as a matter of course.clearingout wrote: »

I used to have an auction house and would often get vendors telling me which lot numbers they wanted to have, it was always impossible to do it like that, I would just smile and nod. Occasionally by coincidence I would get the numbers right, they would thank me for doing as they asked, I would smile and nod. Such a shame that there's no 'smile and nod' option on replying to emails;).0 -
Yes I have been asked by someone before - I sold some used ink cartridges to a business seller who fills them up and sells them on, they asked for my id inside the packaging so they knew who it was from.
Its not really "extreme" just saves them time from figuring out what is what when they get the packaging. Doesn't take 5 seconds to help them does it?The Fields are Green, The sky is blue, the River Nene goes winding through, The market square is Cobblestoned, It shakes the old dears to their bones, A finer town you'll never see, A finer town they'll never be, Big city lights don't bother me, Northampton Town I'm proud to be!0 -
I've had this before, turned out to be a middleman company who make it easier for Japanese people to bid on UK Ebay stuff.
They bid on behalf of the customer, customer pays them, they pay you, you post to their warehouse in the UK, they inspect the items then ship them to the end consumer in Japan.0 -
Check the delivery address, few posts on here about some postal service shipping out to romania?
But lots of parcels going missing. Sellers losing because they couldnt prove delivery.
Then posts from people who use their service to buy stuff on ebay.
All very dodgy.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I like it

We get all those sellers rules, 'pay up in 2 days or else' 'we don't do returns'
'paypal/cash/monkeynuts only' etc.
About time the buyes had some of their own rules :T
If I have to pay within 2 days do I get my package in 2 days, not very likely.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

That's a good point. The ones I have had like that tend to be the ones being sent via a third party as they need to know what they have before they ship it onwards.
I don't mind some requests 'item number on outer packaging' or 'please put your user id in packet' etc, i do really take umbrage though at some others. I've had people buy something unbreakable and flat with 69p postage who tell me it needs to be triple bagged and then boxed (not for a 1.99p item sunshine)
I've sent a despatch mail only to get back from ther PO to find all sorts of instructions like 'please don't send this in one of those plastic bags as my cat is allergic' or 'please change the name on the packet as I've used my girlfriends address and I don't want her to open it . Yeah OK, I'll get RM to make a search for the item then as it is already on its way!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I know the type! Sometimes the anally retentive bidders are obvious from their questions about the item, so I quickly block them. I once listed a BBC comedy compilation DVD and had someone ask me to provide a comprehensive list of the sketches, comedians and their individual times lengths.TI've had people buy something unbreakable and flat with 69p postage who tell me it needs to be triple bagged and then boxed (not for a 1.99p item sunshine)
Having blocked them, I responded by asking if they intended asking me for a list of the names and addresses of everyone in the audience... never heard any more, so I think they got the message.
I've had buyers offering a different despatch address a few times too. Usually it's a drop shipping business seller, trying get me to send my item direct to their customer. I always respond that Paypal make the rules and Paypal state that I have to send it to the Paypal registered address.I've sent a despatch mail only to get back from ther PO to find all sorts of instructions like 'please don't send this in one of those plastic bags as my cat is allergic' or 'please change the name on the packet as I've used my girlfriends address and I don't want her to open it . Porto bello I am convinced we keep getting the same buyers!

My only difference is that I will send to a different address if the item is cheap as I don't track my stuff so it is only a 'fraudulent use of card ' claim I would lose out on. The item has to be cheap though , less than £10.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I think you may be right. I've sold a 99p item today - only one bidder, selling for the starting price.Porto bello I am convinced we keep getting the same buyers!
Plus 70p postage - cost price - large letter, just under 100g.
I've just received the payment of £1.69, plus a message from the buyer, instructing me to package the item securely and properly, in bubblewrap, then boxed, to prevent any sort of damage.
Then the buyer has kindly provided me with a comprehensive list of damage I am to avoid: bends, creases, tears, rips, dents, splitting, twisting and slightly strangely, staining and water damage.
I've had a look at their feedback left for sellers and every so often, there is a swipe taken . I'm tempted to politely inform them that 100g will accommodate a rigid envelope and nothing more and suggest that if they require more substantial packaging (for their 99p item), that will cost rather more than 70p... happy to invoice them accordingly. There again, that might be asking for trouble!
Anyone got any ideas?"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.
