ok peeps i will try my best to explain this....
i was talking to a bloke the other day and he was going on about Statute Barred which i had never heard of. so ive done some searching on here and my brain is fried with info over load !!
when i was younger i was silly with money, credit & loans going back to around 2001 onwards... so upon reading up on here ive dug out a old Credit Expert Report from October 2007. now i know i have to sort out the CCJ's to which i have 3 but im still unsure of when it turns to Statute Barred.
Back in 2005 i went through Bains & Ernst Ltd to try and pay them all off but it was soon clear they was taking most of the money to cover costs so i stopped it in early 2006 so would that count as paying of the debt ??
reason i ask is that on my Credit Report it states.....
started default balance current balance Defaulted on
Jan 01 £100 £100 19/01/05
Aug 01 £8,308 £7'322 22/10/04
March 03 £4'293 £3'783 22/10/04
Aug 00 £558 £481 24/01/06
Oct 02 £533 £506 08/12/04
Jun 99 £4'604 £4'794 27/11/06
Nov 92 £1'188 £1'035 19/05/05
Now even thro i have made payments to Bains & Ernst in 05/06 would this still make the Statute Barred count on all but one of the above ?? im still getting letters asking for payments and also offering me 50% discount on the Debt if paid within 14 days but ive not responded to any of the letters nor have i ever wrote to any company admitting any Debt's.
many thanks guys

It does not matter when the default is put onto your file, the Statute Barred bit comes into play if you have not paid money to or acknowledged the debt in writing to the company for 6 years or more. (5 in Scotland)
Been here for a long time and don't often post0 -
And a debt can't become statute barred if a CCJ has been served on you for the debt."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0

If B&E wrote to your creditors on your behalf (and you'd provided details of this debt) then that would could as acknowledgement - as would any money paid from you to B&E and then on to this creditor.
If the last payment was early 06, and you have not acknowledged the debts since then any without CCJs would be statute barred.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Is there any way i could find out when the last payment was made ?? or would i have to ring B&E and ask them....0 -
Can you not tell from your own records? old bank statements or online banking?
If not then I guess you would need to contact B&E to see if they still hold that information.
Don't ask a debt collector - they won't tell you the truth and sometimes make up entirely ficticious payments.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Does the 5 years in Scotland only count if you stay there or if the debt is from Scotland0 -
