Please Help - Which is the Cheaper

Hi
I bought a pack of 4 cans of beer today, each bottle was 330ml and the pack of 4 cost £4.49.
There were also single bottles available priced at £1.99 each but these bottles were 500ml.
I've tried to work out which was the better value but I'm struggling, maths isn't my forte and I would be grateful if someone could tell me.
Thanks

£4.49 / 1320ml (4 x 330) = 0.00340p per ml
£1.99 / 500ml = 0.00398p per ml
What you bought works out cheaper (0.00340p x 500 ml = £1.70)Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
1320mls for £4.49
1000mls for £3.98
so with the cans you would get an extra 320mls for an extra 51p so without having to work it out properly the cans are definitely the best buy. xJanuary Grocery Challenge £203.50/£200

If in doubt check the shelf edge label and it should say price per 100 / 1000 ml, if one is in 100's and the other happens to be in 1,000's just x the 100 x 10 to get 1,000 and then compare prices.
They ought to have all weights and measure the same on the SEL but seldom don't I think they do this to confuse the buyer.

Not always a better deal though.
I used to buy bars of chocolate for about £1.80.
Then decided to buy a bar twice the size for £3.00
In theory it was better value. But since I ended up eating the whole bar as soon as I opened it It ended up costing a lot more, not to mention the health issues.0 -

but with buying 4 cans rather than 2 big bottles op can have a glass a night for 4 nights rather than buying 2 big bottles that would last 2 nights so the cans are better value both money, if the big bottles worked out cheaper your theory would apply then as after opeing a bottle you would be more inclined to drink it.January Grocery Challenge £203.50/£200

Good point. In my defence it was early in the morning and I didn't notice that the smaller bottles were cheaper.
So long as the op's not tempted to drink twice as many;)0
