First Direct have very strict lending criteria so i am told ..... and found out.

i was declined by them after a lengthy phone chat ..... where they asked me loads of questions about specific payment that had been going out of my FD current account.

Mine was not a straightforward situation though. I have a flat that i own outright and am intending to let ..... they saw this as a liability. I had storage (2 garages and a big yellow unit) payments of approx 400 per month that a new house purchase would eliminate. They also would not have considered anything near the amount their online calculator said.

worth having a chat with them before a formal application i would have though.
