we bought upsy daisy and he loves her to bits. she's definitely 'ethnic', her hands and face are beige, her nose, lips, eyelids etc. are brown.
i will have a look next time it's on though, see if she's noticeably darker in the programme.
i guess that it's possible but to clarify it was her mother who saw the one in the Argos catalogue and then showed me not the niece but i guess if she still retains her "ethnic" features on closer inspection, i guess it's not so bad. I haven't held one in my hands yet so can't say for sure
I still think there is a big difference in colour though.Newbie Debt Ninja0 -
Saw the question, but was not going to read through 7 pages of replys.
I have already bought many Night Garden Toys, they are certainly available in:
Mothercare
Tesco
Amazon (who have a big iggle piggle)
Prices seem to be the same everywhere (give or take a few pennys)
There are a wide range of the same characters at different prices depending on size from
£5 for small dolls, (mothercare, Tesco)
£15 for plush soft toys about 1 ft high (mothercare, Tesco)
Big character have seen iggle piggle (which i believe dances and sings) is £35. (Amazon)
plastic Ninkey nonk train £10 (mothercare)
Got a box set of all the characters (small figures) for £15 (mothercare)
Makka Pakka bath toy (with og-pog and trumpet) for £12 (Tesco)
Hope this helps.
When you see them grab them fast because they dissapear within 1-2 days.
Maybe buy the xmas presents now because you will not get them in December. It will be the must have - cant get Xmas rush guaranteed.
Hope this helps

i looked at upsy daisy on TV tonight and you're right - she is much darker than the toy. the macca pacca toys are a lot darker than the tv character. husband says iggle piggle is the wrong blue
so yes, upsy daisy toy is a lot lighter but she does still look dark skinned.
the mothercare staff say upsy daisy is the favourite, even with boys'bad mothers club' member 13

I emailed the BBC to ask about this and have received a reply:
"I can confirm that we are currently receiving stock of the posters and will be sending these out to all customers within the next 1-2 weeks. I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused"
The email then went on to suggest I sign up to the BBC Shop's mailing list to be informed about future special offers. I don't think so :rolleyes:0 -
Not a toy-related post, but just wanted to let anyone who didn't know that the first issue of the ITNG magazine came out today, you get an Iggle Piggle hand puppet with it. There is one story in the magazine and some stickers which little ones can use to make their own pictures - probably not suitable for babies but toddlers would like it. It's £1.99 and I'm not entirely sure it's worth it, but my daughter seemed to like it!0
