Friday 28th September - What small DFW things will you be doing today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:
Hi guys and happy Friday!!! :j can't wait to just have personal/house-related work to do rather than being bothered with paid employment! :rotfl:
Gosh my life is crazy busy and just plain crazy at the moment with all the house shenanigans going on! Yesterday I posted off the contracts and transferred our deposit into the solicitors acc. Money coming from so many different places into my current acc and then transferring out  how much that is has lost all reality to me at this point!
So that is the crazy stuff out of the way and now finishing packing - although being minimalist there isn't as much as there has been in the past!
Anyway should stop babbling!
Ziggy very impressed yesterday with your £2 stash! We raid ours all the time!
La E excellent news on the dh payday front! Hope you guys had a cheeky something out of that for the two of you! Perni same goes for you and your dh!
Bagpuss good to see you again, sorry to hear about your dog and laptop but excellent news on the super deal replacing it!
Ok my lists - have decided to stop being such a masochistic and trying to do too much and getting myself stressed
* [STRIKE]checked banking & shifted some funds[/STRIKE]
* [STRIKE]will work out rest of budget and then transfer to savings/VSP and update sig [/STRIKE](went over my minutes on my contract and my bill was for £88  gutted as money is so tight this month anyway... Need to work out where this is coming from...)
* all meals from stores - really to use up food before the move rather than financial! opps bought a packet of crisps!
* packing this evening
* finalise buildings & life ins quotes
* call landlord and pay final installment of rent - only £118 and don't pay mortgage until 1st Nov :T
* [STRIKE]hang up washing[/STRIKE] and do another load
* think I'm gonna go for a swim and a sauna after work to de-stress
ok that's all for me. Hope you all have a lovely day xxx

Morning DNMS, thanks for starting us off - you just pipped me to it!
Friday is one of my days off, normally for stitching but I have a massive jobs list today so might not get into the sewing room at all. But I am going to a free workshop tomorrow to learn how to make fabric flowers so I could say that was a Stitching Witch day and today is my Saturday.
So far:- breakfast from stores
- got yesterday's sandwiches out of freezer for DH's lunch
- fed and watered the chickens and asked for 3 eggs today
- checked banking - amazing how quickly the salary disappears

- checked for surveys
- started meal plan for October
- finish meal plan and write shopping list
- blitz the house for visitors coming this weekend
- keep checking for surveys
- collect DGD from school, bring her here for a couple of hours baking then drop her off at her dad's house - DD flying to Majorca today
- check shopping list against Mr T prices on internet before going to Lidl (they're not always the best deal even though they seem cheap)
- look for yellow stickered stuff at Mr T's
- keep heating off all day
- possibly treat myself to new cake tins as L@kel@nd have a BOGOHP deal and I also have a £5 coupon so that's £40 worth of tins for £25 - put some away for Xmas presents
Some of you may recall me mentioning that DH bought one of those tiny table top ovens when our cooker died. Many of my cake tins won't fit in it so the above item in my list isn't too much of an extravagance - I can't bake cupcakes, mince pies etc with the tins I currently have.
Still waiting for BGas refund to go into my bank, and a tax rebate from my accountant. Hopefully a total of around £350 so that will pay off loan from DS3 and cover Christmas - provided they get here on time - maybe next Christmas...... :rotfl:Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. Gmorning, everyone! Thanks for starting us off, DNMS. You need to slow down, girl! Dont burn out.
Enjoy your new tins, Stitchy. Any idea when you'll be able to replace the cooker?
Yes, Pernie, its awful how the world is sometimes! I do feel like this is a good bit though as these ladies dont have access to many services at all so we are filling a gap properly.
Hope you're feeling on the up, Zigs.
On the good side: PAYDAY!!!! At my new salary! And finally paid for consulting work I did some time ago. Le woot! Will see the savings going up much faster now.
On the other hand I was up late last night helping OH with a business plan he has to turn in today - we finished at 5:30 am so I'm barely propping my eyes open today. Will try to struggle through without crawling under my desk for a nap....

We have had a Rayburn sitting in the kitchen for a over a year which is waiting to be renovated, plumbed in, chimney lined and connected and generally made usable. Once that's done it will be our main cooker, but we felt we needed a small back-up for summer months when we don't want the Rayburn alight. Hence buying the mini cooker (it has 2 rings, oven, grill and rotisserie), which is also a stop-gap until said Rayburn is done. We won't be buying a replacement full-sized cooker at all.Nottoobadyet wrote: »Enjoy your new tins, Stitchy. Any idea when you'll be able to replace the cooker?
Considering DH made me a beautiful dining table 15 years ago and I'm still waiting for the drawers, I'm not really holding my breath on the Rayburn, especially as we have no budget for it. DH is also half way through building a brick oven in the garden "so we can bake bread, pizzas, jacket potatoes and hearty stews" outside. That's been an on-going project for 18 months.
DH has a new name - 'Arfur - as he only ever seems to do 'arfur job! :rotfl:Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.0 -

I was really pleased with the amount too and quite impressed that we hadnt dipped into it but then I have been quite strict and as soon as a £2 coin has arrived its been whisked away into the tin (which is hidden) and at least now I know that I have most of the TV licence covered as the next few months look to be expensive what with a new boiler and garage roof -fingers crossed nothing else goes wrong or Christmas may be cancelled too, lol
Hope you managed some relaxation as well that mammoth list today.
Take care, love :A
