Question about Statutory Sick Pay linked periods

I work for a company that has no sick pay scheme, therefore SSP is the only sick pay I could get.

I was ill off work for a Wednesday and Thursday. I then dragged myself into work on the Friday morning but went home still ill at lunchtime. I was ill all weekend although went back to work on the Monday.

As weekends count for SSP too, does this not count as total of 4.5 days sick (under the linked rules) therefore qualifying me for SSP?

Thanks so much for help!

IIRC it's qualifying periods that link. As you weren't off for more than 3 days straight to begin with, no SSP would be payable.

If you had a week off, returned for 3 days and then had another week off you'd get 11 days SSP (first 3 days are waiting days).

As has been said because you did some work on Friday the only days that would be looked at with regard to SSP would be Wednesday and Thursday (No PIW formed as less than four days) and Saturday and Sunday (Again no PIW as less than four days) However even had you not worked on Friday you might still not have got any SSP unless you had a linking PIW in the eight weeks before.
It would have depended on what were your qualifying days, these are usually the days that you would normally work though by agreement they can be different. If your qualifying days were Monday to Friday, and you were sick Wednesday to Sunday then Wednesday Thursday and Friday would be qualifying days and count as the three waiting days for which no payment is made and Saturday and Sunday would be non-qualifying days for which no payment is made.
