We got my father in law a rose as a thank you gift for our wedding day. It cost less than £50 iirc, came boxed in a reasonably large box but easily small enough to fit in a taxi (either black cab or in the boot of a normal car minicab). They're named and presented nicely.
It was delivered to me by post and I chose the date. The reason was that if you receive it a day or two before the event, you give it water once and then it's fine for a few days until the new owner takes responsibility. Might not be so good if they're off on honeymoon, but perhaps you could order it to be delivered directly once they're home?
I'm not affiliated, just a happy customer. I'm sure that other companies would offer similar.. http://www.davidaustinroses.com/0
