how can I make a fairy castle

my gd will be 4 and is having a party in a church hall. Sad to say but the hall is a bit grotty (but cheap!) and want to take peoples minds off it! the theme is fairy princess. I was thinking of how to make a large fairy type castle but am stuck. If need be I can take the little tykes play house apart and re assemble it in the hall and somehow decorate that but not sure how to go about it so if anyone has ideas i would be grateful!!

Is she having a cake? You can make castle cakes quite easily (if you are any good with baking - if not then it won't be that easy :rotfl:) You Can do 1 or 2 tiers of cake, and then ice toilet roll tubes and use upside down ice cream cones for pointy roofs. You can add jelly sweets on there for diamonds etc.

Could you add a dressing up box with any princess costumes and bits of pretty material (kids will use their imagination and use them as shawls, shirts, veils etc) Hopefully you could beg steal and borrow those kinds of things.

You can get really cheap wands and tiaras from tescos for party bag fillers.

As for an actual castle, could you maybe put up a tent? My daughter used to have a little indoor princess tent, but even if you had a normal tent, you could make it princessy by adding tinsle (pink or purple or silver maybe), fairy lights, some cushions inside it, some blankets. Kids will love crawling in and out of it and using their imagination.

I would basically grab anything you have thats pink, purple, white, silver or gold and try to get creative with it. The kids will think its amazing fun, and you'll probably have loads of fun setting it up (or is that just me?!) :D

  • thanks for the quick reply!! she loves anything pink so is fairly easily pleased. For cake i am doing one in a round pyrex bowl, adding one of those stick in dolly figures then making a pink skirt from icing- hopefully!

think we are going to do a make your own tiara table as well but just want to jazz the room up a bit! will look into the tent thing. Thanks!!!

You could probaly make a castle out of cardboard boxes, kitchen roll or toilet roll tubes etc if you wanted to? Paint it pink and put some glitter on there :D

Cake sounds fab. Well the whole party sounds fab to be honest - I love things like that :rotfl:

You could put some bunting up also. If you have a Net of white fairy light put them on a wall and then cover them with some white fabric, markets are a great source for cheap fabric. You can then use it as a backdrop area for photos of the princesses in the party wear. Photo booth props ideas.... https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=princess+photo+booth+props&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari&redir_esc=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=IQ9kUOuqJ5SL4gS2noHwBA&biw=1024&bih=672&sei=JA9kUNftHs334QTb7YGYCg

http://celebratingeverydaylife.com/lets-make-a-fairytale-princess-party-tu-tu-chair-skirt/. If you can borrow a gazebo, pref white, you could have it indoors and decorate it with light, balloons and fabric. This could be the area for eating if the party isn't too big or for the dressing up boxes.

Not to do the chairs the link Is just to give you an idea for the decoration of a gazebo

Hope it’s not too late. In “Mister Maker” they dad couple of episodes about how to make a castle. One as a “Could I make it in 1 min” section. Idea is have a different shaped card boxes (but close is size) insides from toilet paper and paper towels are perfect , colour it in funky colours, make doors and windows, could be done out of big stickers (like labels for names), make cones for roofs, and some flat “roofs”. Then, put doors and roofs on to get “towers”, then glue several “towers” together, biger and taller go inside. You’ll get miniature castle.
