How can I save on my electric bill?

No it couldn't, it's thermostatically controlled.
No you're right, a simple load * time calculation does over estimate the energy usage however short of splitting the supply cable and fitting a CT and a datalogger it's hard to get an exact figure. I still believe that fitting the boost timer was economically worthwhile.0 -
I think trying to save money by messing around turning off computers and other low power equipment isn't going to get anyone very far. I analysed the power used in our house and almost half of our daily consumption is down to using the electric shower rated at 10 kW. In this case a few less minutes in the shower makes a lot more difference than turning off power supplies or using energy saving lightbulbs.0

I'm sure it was, but your initial claim was that an immersion heater could use £5 a day! Which is obviously insane.0
