Credit Score ruined over £9.58

Hello guys
Looking for some advice. Myself and wife have recently split and I am applying to move the mortgage into my sole name. Its through RBS. I got a call yesterday saying that I had failed their credit scoring as i had an unpaid debt of £9.58 to 02 from 2011. Gutted, that's all that was showing as a default and i've never had any problems in the past with buying cars etc.
Anyway I have contacted 02 paid off the outstanding amount but I've been told it can take up to 60 days to show as being cleared. I really want to get my life back on track and take over the house asap. I'm not sure what my next step should be and is there anyway to speed things up with removing this default on my name?
I'm scared this will now be marked against my name for years and i will not be able to buy another proeprty should I have to move on soon?
Please help

Nothing to be done about it, unfortunately, it will stay as a settled default on your record for 6 years. You can enter what is called a Notice of Correction on the credit report which will at least mean that your report will be manually checked if you apply for credit - you can explain the circumstances and very trivial sum of the default in that notice.
But for credit applications where the computer simply assesses yr details against preset critria, you are likely to fail a credit assessment due to the default, however trivial it may be. Pathetic, but then thats what this island is all about.0 -
That's not good reading...do you know if all lenders use Equifax, if so does that mean I'm pretty much screwed?0

Did you get anyone chasing you for this unpaid debt before the default was applied/
Perhaps you moved and didnt tell them.
The only way you can normally get a default removed is if the company has made an error in doing so.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
