Moorgate Loan Servicing Policy

Hi All,

I have been on a DMP for 5 years now nearing the end of the default time too, having talked the situation over with my family they have offered me a small amount of money to try and settle the debts partially. I wrote to Moorgate recently offering £1000 for a debt of £3250 as a starting point but then i have many phone calls from them saying they will firstly not accept the offer (which i was expecting tbh as its about the 30% starting point!) but they then said something strange IF they offered me a partial settlement then it would be listed on my credit file as partially paid job done, but IF they accepted my offer then the balance still owed would be listed with ALL the agencies and a default notice (therefore destroying my credit file for another 6 years potentially!) will also be lodged against this? My question is are they allowed to do this or should i approach the ombudsman? please note that all other creditors i have approached will not take this action. Any comments/ help much appreciated. Many Thanks!!

Sorry no there is no default in place i was on a "fixed" minimum payment with MBNA until they sold the debt on to Moorgate, which i have continued with seperately and i will now look at taking this into the DMP as i am struggling to keep the same level tbh.

    Cheers

thanks for your info heather i will be adding them back into my DMP next month as i am very disappointed with their attitude tbh. I dont see why i should make them a priority when they have this attitude with me.
