** Have previously posted on the Mortgage board and no replies so trying here** - thanks in advance for any help.
Me and my OH visited the Britannia BS at the weekend to enquire about a mortgage, I didn't want to be credit checked that day because I have recently paid off 3 accounts and wanted this to be reflected on my file. So, we are going back next week on Tuesday. The advisor looked at all the figures with us and spoke to the underwriter, basically, we are putting down at £10k deposit and borrowing a lot less than we perhaps could do, we have debt but it's all still looking rather affordable on paper, we have been told in a round about way, that as long as we both pass the credit check next week, we're there.... So here's the potential problem and question:
My OH has a perfect credit score and record but mine has been damaged, I have missed payments on my file and my overall score on experian is currently 613 out of 1000. I know that all companies score differently so it's impossible to say but do you think this will pass and get us this mortgage? I am so annoyed as my future depends on a score that I wish I could have avoided getting low!
Thank you in avance for any advice....

I used to work for the afore mentioned company.
As I recall, it was CCJ's and Defaults that were frowned upon but even then, there was a specific criteria whereas they could be accepted.Debt free in 2010
£6551.35 paid so far.
This WILL be my debt free year! :T0 -
I'd see a completly independant mortgage advisor and be totally upfront about your past debt. They can use any lender and will be sure to find you the best deal. Sometimes they can get better deals then if you went direct.0

We changed lenders a couple of years ago with our f.a. and although we had a bit of debt £6,500.00 ( 1 default and a couple of late payments )both working we got another mortgage , slightly higher interest rate. You might find yourself in this position but you never know you might be really lucky.
all the best:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
unfortuantley it's just gonna be one of those things that you nee to wait to see...hope it all goes well for you0

Birmingham Midshires will give you an answer and they do not leave a footprint on your file..they also consider each case individually.0

Thank you all for your support and advice, some very good advice there.
Well, tomorrow is the big day so fingers (and toes) crossed that we have a postive outcome to this. It's so frustrating that because of my past I may have affected my future but hey - postive thinking and at least I have "learnt my debt lesson".
Thanks all and best wishes.
