Feeling very out of control.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel like that they're out of control with their life? Does debt make you feel out of control?

I had my LBM but struggling to act on it and just feel like everything else in the mean time is getting worse and worse.

Thankfully I am now debt free, but most people in debt, try to ignore it, until the lightbulb moment. Normally that comes either because they think about it and realise this can't go on, or they simply run out of available credit.

It is at that point, when they realise yes it is out of control, but you have to remember, as soon as you decide to do something about it, you are starting to take control.

It's extremely difficult to add up all the debt at first and it may seem like their is no end of the road. But I and many others here can tell you, that there is an end in sight, even if quite far away.

You've started to take control by having your lightbulb moment. So continue that control in whatever way you can. If you need to go into a DMP then do so, contact CCCS or Payplan.

Stick around the forums, get that signature updated with your details if it helps you stay focussed. If you haven't done one do a SOA and post it up so people can assist.

At this stage you have a bit of control, but gradually you will gain more and more control and then once you have even a small amount left over at the end of the month, you are truly on your way to making it to a debt free life.

A few years back, I felt exactly like you now. I thought the heavy gambling and general spending on rubbish I didn't need of the previous 20 + years, meant I was never going to be able to live a debt free life and even retire.

But with a few years hard work, things are very different now and they can be for you too.
  • Keep going! :) I felt exactly the same as you a few months ago, I had just started on my journey to becoming debt free and it was terrifying, I felt stupid and worthless, I just couldn't believe I had got myself into such a mess! But once you start plugging away at the debts and you see them getting lower it gets easier.

A bit of weight starts to feel lifted and this has a knock on effect with other areas of life, im more relaxed, not frowning so much, sleeping better, and starting to think about tackling other things I want to change, such as quitting smoking! Taking back some control finally.

I get paid in a few days and 3 more of my debts will be cleared. This is what keeps me going, knowing that every month I am one step closer.

    You can do it :)

  • as another poster said just keep plugging away and after a few months of this you will start to feel better, and there is nothing like the feeling once you are feeling you are in control.

i only started this year with mine after years and years of reckless spending, but i was also saving too at the same time, :rotfl:

so i thought i was doing well with savings (pat on the back) but was racking up cedit card debt on rubbish, crazy i know but once you start there is no looking back and you will start to feel wonderful
